Today after the news of Steve Job’s death, countless people changed their Black Berry’s status messages mourning the death of Apple’s founder, many of them used Steve’s photo as their display pics, several thousands tweets mourning the death of Steve Jobs. I read many types of sympathy messages, many Muslims said things like: “May Allah Forgive his sins, May Allah Have mercy on him, Oh God why you took Steve! Steve will be immortal in our hearts….etc”
Since I have read many books, and since I have the knowledge and since this topic (To be frank I mean the words that was used for Steve) are not allowed in our great religion and the fact it touches an essence of our religion… as usual I couldn’t stop myself from talking about it. It’s true I don’t advise others on all related matters to our religion, however, I usually talk when it’s something touching an essence of the religion. I started telling people what you guys are doing is not allowed in our religion. Many tweeps started attacking what I said greatly, and said why we can’t? I received many messages like: “Mourning and praying for the dead is a human act”, “If you are cold-hearted, that doesn’t mean you should force others to be like you”, “Why you are making a big deal of this topic? Let them mourn his death?”, “Hell is not only for infidels but it’s for some Muslims as well” and many other messages.
There are many verses in Holy Quran where Allah orders the Muslims and his Prophets not to pray for disbelievers and pagans. There are many verses in the Holy Quran where Allah stated that the Jews and Chrsitians are “Koffar” yet sadly, I found many Muslim tweeps saying they are not “Koffar” and the reason for them to say that is because they (Jews & Christians) believe in the existence of God. Believe in the existence of Allah alone doesn’t make you Muslim. There are many people whoe believed in the existence of God but they insulted God and said bad things about him. Jews & Christians believe in the existence of God yet Allah considered them Koffar because they didn’t believe in his words, he said in their books that you have to follow the last messenger Prophet Mohammed (Blessings and Peace of Allah be upon him) yet they refused to do so. Imagine I say I believe in the existence of Allah but I am praying to rocks, statues or other human beings, will that makes me a Muslim?
Also there are many Hadiths that prove we cannot pray for mercy for disbelievers, among the evidence is the report narrated by al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood from Abu Moosa (May Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Jews would pretend to sneeze in the presence of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) hoping that he would say to them, “May Allah have mercy on you,” but he used to say: “May Allah guide you and set your affairs straight.”
Some people said why we can’t pray for him, he did many good things to humanity; my answer is in my other post: “Ethics’ Reward” http://abdulaziz-mohammed.blogspot.com/2011/06/ethics-reward.html Please note that there is a difference between feeling sad for an unbeliever’s death and praying for him. Feeling sad sometimes we can’t help it, he/she could be a mother or a father or a family or someone helped us, it’s not wrong to be sad if you can’t control your emotions but praying for him/her is under our powers so we don’t have excuse. Anyway, if someone really loves God and I mean he/she really loves Allah from the heart, he will find it hard loving someone who insults Almighty God day and night. You may wonder why? Well ask yourself, if someone insulted your most beloved person say your father or mother, every ugly word and then he died, would you be sad? I really know some people who might kill another if their loved ones are insulted! There are many cases in history proving that.
When we pray for a “Kafir” it means we have some love for them, otherwise why would you pray for someone you don’t love? What’s wrong is when you see someone who day and night reads verses from the Holy Quran, where Allah clearly says that such acts are wrong yet he/she objects. I would love to ask all the tweeps who objected what I said, have you ever read the following verse in The Holy Quran:
Thou wilt not find any people who believe in God and the Last Day, loving those who resist God and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for ever). God will be well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of God. Truly it is the Party of God that will achieve Felicity.
Holy Quran (Chapter 58 Verse 22)
Ask yourself dear brother and sister, someone who denied the existence of our God! He denied the existence of the one who created him and gave him everything he needs. He denied the existence of the one gave him more than what he asked for, is that person worthy of getting your prayer? Dear brother and sister, Imagine you are having a son and for 50 years you gave him everything he needed, you helped him and supported him in every possible way. Imagine that some son says no you are not my parent, you don’t even exists, you didn’t help me at all…etc would you be happy or you would be sad? Is that son a good person or a bad person, I leave the judgement to you dear reader and you will understand why Muslims are not allowed to pray for such people.
Why I am making a big deal of this? Well that’s because it shows who do we love more? the Muslims or the Non-Muslims? Who you are going to follow? Allah’s orders or the west’s Media? It shows if you are a “Real Muslim” or you are putting a label on yourself saying you are: “Muslim”. Being true Muslim require true men and women, it requires people whose hearts are filled with the love of Allah and his servants not who label himself Muslim but his heart is attached with the Media or the enemies of Allah. In such situations it requires a “True Muslim” to stand up against the Media.
I know it’s hard to be different from other people, in fact I felt sad today because I felt that I am different from the rest of the world. I admit it’s not an easy for me to be different from you my dear tweeps who kept praying for Steve! I was like a stranger among them even though we are all Muslims yet I felt I am lonely, you can imagine how much it’s painful and hard for a lone man to be standing against his friends and beloved ones. I found myself in many similar situations, those who followed me already realized that, yet I knew Allah put me in such situations to test my faith. Allah wanted to test me wether I will fail the test and follow the waves of the media and be a parrot repeating what others are saying or I would succeed and keep up my beliefs. I don’t know myself if I passed the test or not but one thing I am really grateful from my heart, it’s that Allah helped me to be patient and stay strong for few hours. Yes dear readers in such situations it requires few hours of tolerance to emotional pain but soon you will taste the sweetness of being different, being chosen, being guided by Allah and not forsaken like most others.
I ask all those who insulted me for my stand in this situation, the day passed, now in the future if your sons were great Muslims and they asked you about this subject, would you be proud throwing your belief and principles, being like a parrot, driven by the western’s media or you would be proud telling them: “Dear Sons, your father was strong, he stood up against them all and was honest to his principles even in hard situations”? of course a sane person would be more proud with the second option.
Maybe after today’s tweets, many people think I am merciless, awful, cold-hearted, emotionless…etc but that’s fine with me, as long as I am not ignorant… Not ignorant in knowing what’s right and what’s wrong, not ignorant in chosing the right group to be with, not ignorant about who deserves my real love and respect… I know some already hated me for my tweets, debates, discussions because it’s in human’s nature, it’s hard for them to accept the truth if they were wrong. Some of you dear tweeps might hate me for what I said today after all I had long debates and I kept writing for long time. It’s in such moments and such debates, the Devil take the advantages of our hearts, he start plants his hatred seeds but I would like to remind you that don’t hate someone who is trying to guide you, don’t hate someone who is not asking anything from you in return but wishing for your happiness, don’t give a chance for the satan to plant hatred in your heart, even if he succeeded in planting that hatred, cut it from now, don’t let it grow because if it grown to a tree your heart will look ugly and it’s painful. I would like to say all those I talked and debated with, I swear I prayed for each one of you by name in my prayer and asked God to guide you and remove any hatred from your hearts and forgive all our sins. That’s said, it’s up to you if you want to hate me or not, but from my side I swear I wish happiness to all of you, and it’s always of great pleasure to me to see other Muslims are happy.
Finally, imagine yourself infront of Almighty God in judgment day, would you dare to say: “Oh God I am human afterall I can’t help but to be sad for the death of your enemy. I have said like what others said, It’s no big deal to mourn the death of unbeliever” or you would be glad and say: “Oh God, even though I am weak, I was against all others yet I did as you ordered me, oh God I didn’t care what others said about me. I sacrificed everything for your sake, because God… I…. I…. I really Love you more than Humans”
